Our Work
Amel believes that health literacy is essential for healthcare systems reform towards more health equity and sustainability.
Our work is geared into three directions:
First is the implementation of researches for the assessment of health literacy in different communities.
Second, improving the health literacy of the communities through health education programs.
Third, Amel is aiming to target healthcare professionals to make them part of the process of health promotion through the incorporation of health literacy into the healthcare delivery process as part of the clinical and advocate for health literacy as a pillar of public health.
Research
Our first approach is the implementation of health literacy researches to assess the level of health literacy in the communities and its impact on health outcomes.
Providing health information in simple language
Health information is not necessary to be complicated. Our second approach would be to provide health information in a simple language that can reach the population of all educational levels..
Targeting specific groups
Our third approach is creating health literacy programs that are specifically directed to certain groups. These groups may include students in schools and their parents, elderly population, and groups that are more vulnerable to low health literacy by the impact of low education, low socioeconomic status, or cultural and lingual obstacles.
Get more benefits of already available programs and resources
The fourth approach would be geared towards the awareness and cognition of what the public already has of health prevention and promotion programs by the government, the state, the public and private insurances, the community programs, and the non-governmental organizations.
Advocate for Health Literacy
Advocate for health literacy is our fifth approach. The targeted groups are healthcare providers and healthcare leaders.
